A beautiful route on the Twelve Apostles side of the mountain, Kasteelspoort starts above Camps Bay and finishes where the original Cable Car used to be, at the Insta-famous “diving board” rock. From there we walk the ups and downs of the “back table” up to the plateau, before heading over to the Cable Car (weather permitting). Kasteelspoort is great for beginners wanting to try the next level of hiking. It gives a great overall experience of the mountain with all-around views. It also follows the history of Cape Town’s water supply from the 1870’s to present day.
All hikes that require descent by Cable Car are dependent on the wind. If the wind is too strong, the Cable Car will be closed, and we will hike down Platteklip Gorge. This adds about 2 hours and is an extra R300pp.
